BSNL 3G Plans in India - Pondicherry

Telecommunication Minister has announced the launch of BSNL's 3G mobile services in Pondicherry.

The new 3G services by BSNL is open to all postpaid and prepaid subscribers of Pondicherry and Karaikal city and peripheral urban areas.

The plan goes like this , BSNL is making available 3G SIM for Rs 59 which includes 50 free video calls along with 25 MB data storage usage.

The regular charge is 30 paise per minute for local voice and video calls while STD voice and video calls will be charged 50 paise per minute.These charges apply when you exceed your free limits.

BSNL now offers unlimited wireless internet at Rs 999

BSNL that provides wireless internet across India with its 3G EVDO Data Card has slashed its prices recently.

BSNL tries to push its unlimited internet plan which costs Rs. 750 per month for users who sign up until the end of March 2010, after which it will increase to Rs. 999 per month.

In case of the other EVDO service providers, unlimited isn’t really unlimited: there’s an unfair “Fair Usage” clause.

Note-:
  • The Plan 750 is Promotional offer for new customers activating EVDO postpaid unlimited data plan upto 31.03.2010.They will be charged reduced Fixed Monthly Charge (FMC) of Rs.750 in place of Rs. 999.
  • Existing BSNL EVDO Data Card customers in lower data plan migrating to the unlimited plan during the promotional period will also get the benefit of reduced FMC of Rs. 750.
  • Service Tax as applicable will be charged extra.
  • The above bundle free usage in all Plans will also be available while roaming.
  • The Existing EVDO customers would continue to avail the unlimited data usage@Rs 650 per month.

Check out the sale figures , 20,000 units of Nexus One phone in its first week , not impressive as compared to others whom it is competing with.To rub salt on wounds the company is flooded with complaints relating to Google Nexus Smart phone
Nexus One is reportedly giving users tough time with Google's support forums full of customer complaints regarding company's poor service.

The drawbacks that have surfaced in this Google high on hype and low on performance phone?

Poor 3G connectivity
Google Nexus One switches back and forth between EDGE and 3G service even when strong 3G signals are available.It moves between 3G and EDGE probably every minute a user commented.

Confusing touchscreen navigation

People are facing problems in understanding navigation especially returning back to the home screen.Google Nexus  phone doesn't have for  multi-touch functionality.

Online booking and delivery problems

Many people didn't received order confirmation even after three days of placing an order. A user on a google forum. wrote that he is waiting for his order to be processed even after 72 hours.Others have also written about delivery issues.

High termination fee

The termination fees charged by both Google and T-Mobile adds up to a whopping $550 for customers who cancel their contract.As you are aware that Google charges a $350 for "equipment recovery fee" and T-Mobile $200 .Google Nexus hence , costs $179 ($240) with a two-year T-Mobile contract and $529 without it

Google suspecting an insiders work in security breach in China

Google is investigating its mid-December sophisticated cyber attacks in China which the company suspects is an insides job.

The attacks which were primarily targeted to people in Google who have access to specific parts ,had resulted in theft of the search giants sensitive intellectual property.Untill the last reports ,it is being assumed that one or more Google employees may have been involved in the Google breach which also targeted 20 other companies from Google networks.The attack used a malicious software (malware)  was a modification of a trojan called Hydraq , that, once inside a computer, allows someone unauthorised access.

McAfee , a leading antivirus vendor wrote in a corporate blog on Sunday that the targeted and coordinated nature of the attacks on various companies made them the most sophisticated cyberattack the company had seen in years.

"We're not commenting on rumour and speculation. This is an ongoing investigation, and we simply cannot comment on the details," a Google spokeswoman said.

Chinese media, citing unnamed sources, reported that some Google China employees were denied access to internal networks after Jan. 13, while some staff were put on leave and others transferred to different offices in Google's Asia Pacific operations. Google said it would not comment on its business operations.
